One example of a brand who uses magazines for marketing communication is Guess.

(for more about the Guess products visit: www.guess.com)
The picture above is an adverisement from the magazine 'Glamour'. Glamour is a magazine for women which advertises for a lot of brands.
The whole page in the magazine 'Glamour' is filled with this advertisement so it's hard for the customer to miss this advertisment of Guess.
The advertisement shows the name of the brand and one of the products the brand tries to sell. As you can see, the picture above tries to sell a watch.
Coca cola is also a brand that has used magazines for their marketing communication. In 1950 Coca Cola was on the cover of the magazine 'Time'. Time is a weeklie news magazine.
Coca cola has also coorperated with the magazine 'Glam*it'. Together they have developed a concept of miniature magazines on bottles. Coca Cola Belgium would be the first to apply this concept.

People buy magazines out of interest for the subjects it includes. In a women magazine it won't be irritating to see an advertisement of Guess for example, so you as a customer will be watching that advertisment. This could also make the customers buy something from Guess or it makes the customers tell friends about that brand.
And with Coca cola I have the same opinion. It is a very spectacular concept to make magazines on a bottle. This will make people talk and that will be a form of advertisement for coca cola.
So in my opinion brands should make more use of magazines because we as customers can skipp the advertisements whenever we want to. This is not the case with television commercials where you have to wait for your programme to start again after a 5-minute-break.
Next time I'll discuss other parts of advertisement so please visit every now and then to see what I've posted!
